What an album!

Don’t get lost

The Brian Jonestown Massacre- Don’t get lost
Release Date: 2017
Label: ‘a’ Recordings

AM says: “Named in tribute to the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist and his influence in introducing Eastern culture and music into the world of Western rock & roll, the Brian Jonestown Massacre formed in San Francisco, California in 1990. Some 40 different members passed through the group’s ranks over the next half-decade, but the focal point always remained singer/guitarist Anton Newcombe, who, along with bassist Matt Hollywood, guitarist Dean Taylor, organist Mara Regal, accordionist Dawn Thomas, drummer Brian Glaze, and “Spokesman for the Revolution” Joel Gion, recorded the Massacre’s 1995 shoegaze-influenced debut LP, Methodrone.”
I say: “You trip me up…”

The noisy days are over!

Field Music – Commontime
Release Date: 2016
Label: Memphis Industries

AM says: “The Brewis brothers just can’t help themselves. Despite all the solo and collaborative projects they work on separately, but mostly together, they always come back to Field Music. In the years since their last album, 2012’s Plumb, David and Peter have stayed very busy as usual and along they way picked up a few new elements to add to Field Music’s already wide range of ingredients. To go along with the blatantly prog elements brought to the fore on Plumb, on their 2016 album Commontime some very poppy stuff has been added.”
I say: “Brian Eno is God”

Growing old… Well, ok,

Anyway, The noisy days are over!

It’s time to get smart
You told me
Said you needn’t bother
You can only last for the night
Well you said ” Well that’s fine”
I can see it’s getting on
But I could do with another
So bring the timetable
And your housekeys
And don’t forget your name
Or where you live
Or where you live
Or where you live

The noisy days are over
And here we are instead
Why don’t you get to bed like everybody else?

Could you please keep quiet
You asked me
I’m a big boy now and I can take what’s coming to me
Ah but what could I say?
We’re all getting on
Something’s gonna get us before too long

Can’t you change you tune?
Ooh and sleep in your own room
Say it isn’t so
But you can’t say noo

The noisy days are over
And here we are instead
Why don’t you get to bed like everybody else?

The noisy days are over
And here we are instead
Why don’t you take the? like everybody else?

The noisy days are over
And here we are instead
Why don’t you take the bus like everybody else?

I hope that you can keep it up
I hope that you can keep it up
I hope that you can keep it up
I hope that you can keep it up

All for the best

Waking up and the bed was made
No one looked me in the eye
The more I try, the more I cry
And it’s all for the best

Watched my brother cutting grass outside
Sitting on the porch he told me
Its a long way to go before we can rest
But its all for the best

solo

You’re so beautiful it sings
On a lonely lazy morning
And when I see you rocking back and forth
Whispering that it’s all for the best

One day the stone will roll away
Soon you’ll see
You’re far away from home but never far away from me
And that’s all for the best

solo
(and say you love me)

Promise me, son
Not to do the things I’ve done
Walk away from trouble
(at the end of the day)

Say you love me
Say you love me
Let’s just say you love me
